Part 1: (power point presentation - 55 minutes)

  2. Then, continue power point presentation with the following ideas and questions:
  3. what is learning: definition of learning.
  4. does learning really take place in schools
  5. learning approaches: which learning methods and approaches should we use or consider for our 21st century classroom?
  6. Informal Learning - watch the video by Jay Cross (Informal learning in 10 Minutes)
  7. which learning approach works better for Generation Y or the new generation? Why?
  8. how technology changed the way we learn and teach? what kind of learning cultures do we need to create or adapt for our 21st century classroom?
  9. What is social learning? how to encourage and support creativity, productivity, and performance in our classrooms?
  10. utilizing new social web tools in elearning programs for EFLLs - a case study of a elearning program created for a group of Kuwait University students in 2004 / 2006 / 2007 (will decide on one group later).
  11. inviting some Webhead colleagues to talk about their experience using social web tools for their classes invite participants to direct questions to online Webhead guest speakers.
  12. how to assess informal learning or elearning in general.

Part 2: (hands-on group-activities - 60 minutes)
A hands-on workshop
  1. Plan and create your online 5-6-week syllabus based on required topics for your EFL class. (See an example HERE).
  2. Design collaborative weekly activities or final projects and logistics, e.g. (cross-cultural text-chat, audio interviews, live online group-presentation, blogging and commenting on others' blog posts, etc...See more examples HERE)
  3. Create and decorate your class Yahoo Group or Google Group for daily email exchange and announcements.
  4. Start your class wiki using http://www.wikispaces.com OR http://www.pbwiki.comyour class wiki to use as your (you and your students) learning spaces with links to all communication tools selected to be used in your program, e,g blog, yahoo group, flickr, twitter, ning, FB, etc.
  5. Create your class blog.
  6. Create your class Facebook
  7. Create your class twitter.
